Freda Whisenant

    Funeral services for Freda Whisenant, 89, of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Keith Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Freda was born on July 30, 1934 in Anson, TX to Roscoe and Ethel (Bearden) Snell. She married Billie Steve Whisenant in Portales, New Mexico.
    She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse who worked in the surgical department at Medical Arts Hospital for over 40 years. Freda loved to read and play with her great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
    Freda is survived by her children, Debra McLeod of Lamesa, TX., and Lyndon Whisenant and wife Jerrie of Mansfield, TX.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Jo Ann Woodard of Deville, LA.
    She was preceded in death by her parents Roscoe and Ethel Snell; husband Bill Whisnant; and two brothers, Charles Bob Snell, and Jack Snell.
    The family suggests memorial be sent to: Dawson County Senior Citizens, 609 N. Austin Ave., Lamesa, Texas 79331.
