Elnora Phillips

    Elnora Wade Phillips, 84, of Lamesa passed away on November 28, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1938 in Dawson County to William Gay and Della Lay Wade. She grew up attending Klondike and Lamesa schools. In 1957 she married Norman Phillips, and they were involved in farming, agriculture, and ranching in Martin County. She and Norman were married almost 45 years and enjoyed raising their family in the Klondike area. Along with being a wonderful homemaker, she was very creative, was a talented artist and was a very outgoing and friendly lady. She was very involved in her children’s schools, athletics, and their other many activities. She later enjoyed being supportive of her grandchildren and attended many of their events. She was especially a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of the North 14th Street Church of Christ in Lamesa.
    Elnora is survived by her son Martin “Marty” Wade Phillips of Midland; daughter Dawnelle Doughtie and husband Venton “Lee” of Austin; grandchildren Casey Wade Phillips of Waxahachie, Alisha “Ali” Linnea Smith and husband Ryan Mark of Mansfield, Elizabeth Wynn Doughtie of Austin, Phillip Levy Doughtie of Austin, and William “Wynn” Doughtie of Dallas; great-grandchildren Braxton Ryan Smith of Mansfield and Ella Kate Smith of Mansfield. She is also survived by her sister Iris Wade of Houston and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, her sister Gaynelle Wade Drum of Richmond, VA, her sister Myrle Wade Mitchell of Lamesa, and her brother Walter Lee Wade of Lamesa. 
    Her family would especially like to thank Dr. Michael Sprys of Lamesa. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Juniper Village, the nurses at Sonder Hospice, and the caregivers at Visiting Angels, all of Austin.
    Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. A private burial will be held for family prior to the memorial service. Services will be held at Lamesa Church of Christ on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 PM, officiated by Mark Hackett. 
    If desired, donations may be made to Dal Paso Museum in Lamesa or a charity of your choice.
