On any given weekday afternoon, scores of schoolaged kids leave the classrooms and head toward the Lamesa Boys and Girls Club.It’s in the afternoons that the “clubhouse” at 398 N 7th St. becomes filled with activities of basketball practice, arts and crafts, life lessons, snacks or reading time.It’s a safe place where kids can be kids while their parents are still at work.“We want to keep students in a safe, positive environment; keep it fun, support relationships, give them opportunities and expectations and recognition,” said Club Director Claudia Morales.There are similar clubs across the country.
