Funeral services for Carmel Moreno age 75 of Lamesa, TX., will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Northridge United Methodist Church of Lamesa with Pastor Juan Vasquez officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, and Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Inspirational Services

Carmel was called home by his Lord surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. He was born on July 15, 1948, in Lamesa, TX. Carmel married Rosa Garcia in 1980 in Lamesa, TX.
Carmel was preceded in death by his sons, Carmen G. Moreno, Jr., and Carmelo H. Moreno; parents, Jesus and San Juana Moreno; 5 brothers, Guadalupe Moreno, Jesus Moreno, Jr., Jimmy Moreno, Juan Moreno, and Robert Moreno; 2 sisters, Enedelia Perez, and Ortensia Rodriguez.
Carmel worked as a Roofer, and later worked 17 years with the City of Lamesa.
For 20 years he served with great passion his Prison and County Jail ministries.
Carmen had a lot of grandsons and granddaughters, but what brought joy to his life was his granddaughter, Belle Moreno. Carmen’s favorite saying was…” Keep On…Keeping ON”.
Carmen is survived by his loving family, his wife, Rosa Moreno of Lamesa, TX.; his daughter,: Jaine Alanis and husband Anthony Alanis of Houston, TX.; his sons, Frank Moreno of Seguin, TX., Jessie Russle of New Mexico, Ismael “Bambi” Moreno and wife, Gracie Moreno, Raul Moreno, Israel Moreno, Juan Moreno and wife, Mylaina, Carmen “Roy” Moreno and wife, Amanda, all of Lamesa, TX.; sisters, Margaret Vela, and Estefana Rodriguez, both of Lamesa, TX.; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
