Every year, the Dawson County United Fund donation drive begins in August and usually doesn’t end until the year does.This year, the donation drive to raise $60,000 benefiting two non-profit organizations is getting a late start.Organizers are sending out cards to the school district, the county, Medical Arts Hospital and previous year’s donors. Those cards were expected to be mailed last Friday.Funds collected through United Fund benefit the Lamesa Boys and Girls Club, and the Dawson County Senior Citizens Center.In the past, organizers usually conducted fundraising events during the donation drive.
