Leon Richter

    Leon Richter, age 71 of Lamesa, TX., passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, and Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Leon was born on August 31, 1952, in Lamesa, TX., and married Debra Raines on August 8, 1972, in Lamesa, TX. 
    Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Inez Richter; his brothers, Gene, Billy, Bobby, and Donnie; and his sister, Elaine Githens.
    Leon worked for Midland ISD for over 25 years and retired in 2013. He was a life member of Faith Temple Church. Leon had a God given gift of musical talent; his great passion combined with his awesome piano playing helped to establish his unique signature style of music. Leon’s talent, “made it look easy,” as onlookers, friends and family would often say. Over the years he played with several different bands and each time, he always made an impact.         Another great passion of Leon’s was spending precious time with his family, his greatest treasure. 
Leon is survived by his loving family, his wife, Debra Richter of Lamesa, TX.; his son, Daniel Richter and wife, Renee Richter and grandson, Hurrikane Richter, and great-grandson, Zayden Alcala-Richter, all of Lamesa, TX.; his daughter, Ashley Grayson and husband James Grayson, grand-daughter, Skyler Lara and husband, Austin Lara, grandsons, Seth Grayson, Syrus Grayson, Shaun Grayson, and great-grandson, Maverick Lara, and great-grand-daughter, Mya Lara, all of Lamesa, TX.; brother, Charlie Richter of Princeton, TX.; and numerous relatives and friends.
