Birch Operations, Inc. has received permits from the Texas Railroad Commission for a pair of horizontal oil drilling operations a few miles north-northwest of Ackerly.Both the Butterbump 39-46 A No. 2DN and Butterbump 39-46 A No. 6DN will be drilled from a single location a little over a mile northeast of the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 87 and FM 178.The surface location for the two wells will be only about 20 feet apart at a site less than 100 yards south of Co.
