Dawson County Hospital District board members made a few changes Tuesday with the COVID-19 pandemic no longer considered an emergency.The World Health Organization declared an end to the COVID-19 emergency May 11.One of those changes at Medical Arts Hospital deals with personnel.Hospital Chief Executive Officer Freddy Olivarez advised the board the paid leave policy related to COVID-19 is no longer necessary.The policy had been in effect since Jan. 1, 2021.As an additional benefit to staff, the policy allowed workers up to 80-hours or two weeks paid leave – outside of their regular sick leave days – to quarantine and recuperate ...
