The Austin home of former Lamesa resident Susan Jones Ashworth became a literary salon April 14 when she hosted her childhood friend Kathy Crawley for a reading of her novel “ Walking on Fire,” which will be published in June.Crawley’s first novel is set in 1974 in Thessaloniki, Greece, and is the story of a speech pathologist from a small West Texas town who travels to that country to work in a center for cerebral palsied children.Crawley was born and raised in Lamesa. She left in 1967 to attend Baylor University in Waco, but continued returning home for the summers.
