Medical Arts Hospital officials hope 10 new beds installed in patient rooms will not only be more comfortable, but also reduce fall-related injuries.The beds, purchased with state grant funds and manufactured by Stryker, arrived at the hospital about a month ago.They replace 10 beds that were purchased in 2009 – the year the hospital opened.The new beds eliminate electrical cords which allowed for medical staff to monitor patients’ vital signs or enable patients to call on nurses for assistance.A computerized panel, located on a rail at the foot of the bed, is wirelessly connected to the nurse’s call system.
