Opting not to continue making repairs to what County Judge Foy O’Brien described as a “money pit,” the Dawson County Commissioners Court on Tuesday moved quickly to buy another building to house the local probation offices.Members of the court voted unanimously to purchase the “Reality” building just across the street south of the courthouse at a price of $175,000 from First Methodist Church of Lamesa.“In my opinion, that’s an excellent buy,” County Judge Foy O’Brien told the commissioners.It is the same price the county agreed to pay last summer for a similar-size building on the west side of the courthouse ...
