In another effort to ensure students and staff remain safe inside the Lamesa schools, board members Thursday agreed to allow School Resource Officers (SROs) to be armed with AR15 assault rifles.Officers can’t access the weapons until they undergo training on the rifle.An AR-15 is the same firearm a shooter used when he entered Robb Elementary School on May 24 in Uvalde. He fatally shot 19 students and two teachers, and wounded 17 others.
