Rufus Jackson

    Funeral service for Rufus Jackson, 93, of Lamesa, will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Dayspring Church with Pastor Danny Welch officiating. 
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Rufus passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, in Lamesa. 
    He was born October 13, 1928, in Palestine, Tx to Norman and Ora (Young) Jackson. He worked for the Cotton Compress and retired as a custodian from Lamesa ISD.  He loved cooking, spending time with his family, fishing and attending church.  He was a member of Dayspring Church of Lamesa.
    Rufus is survived by his children, Rosa Lee Harvey (Willard), Kenneth Ray Jackson (Brenda), Henrietta Bolton (Garfield), Donald Jackson (Shelandos Renee) Peggy Whitley (Ross), Doris Jackson, Lisie Jackson (Diana) and Lola Jackson; sister, Pearl Wesson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
    Rufus was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James, David and Ricky; brothers, Norman Jackson, Jr., Lula Mae Cook, Irene Jackson, Corndus Jackson and Charles Jackson.
