A Lamesa man who allegedly embezzled about $174,000 from a local church over a period of years has admitted in federal court to submitting a false tax return.The charge filed against Roy Ben Menix last month in federal court at Lubbock claims he omitted $113,846 in gross income when he filed his income tax form with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the 2016 calendar year.That charge alleges Menix reported gross income of only $12,986 for that year, when he knew his actual income totaled $126,542.Court documents show Menix admitted the income he omitted came both from his farming operation ...
