In the Southwest corner of Wyoming is a little-visited National Monument. The park ranger told me that they average about 20,000 visitors a year which is about the same as one day in July for Yellowstone National Park to the north of this little park.The only true attraction to Fossil Butte National Monument is the layered ancient lake bottom. Within the strata of the petrified mud are equally petrified fish, the relatives of which are sold in the local rock shops all around the United States.
