With the school providing the basic classroom supplies for all students in the Lamesa school system this year, Lamesa’s big annual back-to-school giveaway will be somewhat different.Providing free school supplies for children has been a big part of the giveaway in the past, but this year the focus will be on clothing for kids, said Paula Simco.They also will be providing students with backpacks and personal hygiene items.Because of that change, organizers say they prefer financial donations to assist with the effort rather than donations of actual products.“We don’t want used clothing,” Simco said.The Lamesa school district also has announced ...
