Nieves C. Arredondo
St. Margaret Mary Catholic church will celebrate a Funeral Mass service for Nieves C. Arredondo, age 91, of Lamesa, TX at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 with Father Martin Pena officiating.
Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 and Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Gonzales Funeral Home. An Inspirational service will be held on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Lorenzo (Larry) Arredondo, and a Rosary prayer service on Sunday at 7:00 p.m., both at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Nieves passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in Lamesa, TX.
She was born August 5, 1930 in Seguin, TX. Nieves married Lasaro Arredondo December 17, 1950 in Lamesa.
She was preceded by in death by her parents, Isidro and Carmen Castillo; husband, Lasaro Arredondo; her son, Rudy Arredondo; her grandchildren, Rosaura Barrioz and Justin Arredondo; her sisters, Lucilla Escobedo, Natividad Delgado, and Susie Castillo; her sons-in-laws, Pedro Barrioz, Margarito (Butter) Soto, and Manuel Mireles.
“Come Home, Daughter”, are the words our Mom heard from her Lord Jesus Christ as she reached out to the ceiling with a smile. Our precious Mom went to sleep comfortably in her own home surrounded by family, just as she wanted. She was a born again Christian believer of her Lord Jesus Christ, and she was a caring homemaker. No one, including strangers, would leave her home on an empty stomach. She had the heart of a lamb and a lion. She was a faithful servant in the Catholic Church and known as a matriarch in the city. Nieves visited the sick and afflicted, she was always available to serve. She leaves behind a continuing legacy as she now joins the cloud of witnesses who surround us.
Nieves is survived by her loving family, her children, daughter, Gloria Mireles of Surprise, AZ; daughter, Nieves Medeiros (Steve) of Benton, AZ, daughter, Juana Arredondo of New Braunfels, TX, daughter, Tila Martinez of Lamesa, TX, daughter, Rosa Arredondo of Chandler, AZ, son, Lorenzo (Larry) Arredondo (Bertha) of Odessa, TX, son, Eddie Arredondo (Lourdes) of Boynton Beach, FL, son, Lasaro Arredondo, Jr. (Cindy) of Prosper, TX, son, Gilbert Arredondo (Sally) of Lubbock, TX, daughter-in-law, Sylvia Arredondo of Lamesa, TX; 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; lots of nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and friends.
Honoring Nieves C. Arredondo as her pallbearers are Josue Arredondo, Nathan Arredondo, Jonathan Arredondo, Christopher Arredondo, Isaac Martinez, Adrian Arredondo.
