Lamesa’s annual back-to-school giveaway, hosted by various local churches, has been scheduled for one day only on Aug. 12.This year’s event will run from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at First Methodist Church, 401 N. 3rd St.Paula Simco, one of the organizers, said the focus this year will be on providing students with backpacks, school clothing, and hygiene supplies.Although the giveaway has been held as a drive-up event the past two years due to COVID-19, Simco said this year it will be held inside the church.The location normally rotates between several local churches who have the space available to accommodate ...
