Dorothy Kidd

    Dorothy Applin Kidd, loving wife, mother, grandma and “GG,” passed away peacefully the morning of July 11, 2022 at the age of 88. 
    Dorothy was born on March 28, 1934 to Alvin A. and Effie L. Applin in Lamesa, Texas. She married Marvin T. Kidd on May 6, 1951. 
    She loved her family, missed her husband, and prayed for her grandkids! She loved cooking and was well known for her coconut cake, which was her “calling card.” She ministered to many of the Lamesa folk with her delicious coconut cake.  She also loved to sew, making baby blankets, quilts and lots of Easter dresses.  She was a faithful lifetime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lamesa.
    She is survived by her daughters, Leigh Ann Fleming of Midland and Lisa Ainsworth and husband Kevin of Brownwood; nine grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her parents and all her siblings.
    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 2:00 PM at Dayspring Church, formerly First Assembly of God, 1008 N 7th in Lamesa with Dennis Adams and Danny Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park. 
    Please join the family for visitation and GG’s coconut cake and punch at the church after interment. 
    Arrangements are under the care and direction of Branon Funeral Home.
