Vicki Anderson

Vicki Anderson

Vicki Lee Varner Anderson, age 68, peacefully passed from this earthly world on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
She was a St. Patrick’s Day baby, born March 17, 1953 to Harry Tom “Fuzzy” and Ila Mae White Varner in Baird, Texas. She attended and graduated from Baird High School, where she excelled at basketball and tennis. She then attended McMurray University in Abilene, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English.
It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Thomas Anderson. They married August 24, 1974 and were married 47 years.
She and Tom were stationed in Lamesa, where they began their wonderful life together. Vicki thought she was moving to a beautiful town, with many trees and water. She sadly mistook Lamesa for Lampasas, but soon grew to love her new place and many great friends. She was a public-school teacher for over 40 years. She had a positive impact on many lives and selflessly gave of herself for her students.
Vicki enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, going out to the farm, building perfect cotton modules for Hutch during harvest, working in the yard, and shopping.
She was diagnosed with ALS September 16, 2020. She fought this relentless and devastating disease with dignity, bravery, and grace. She is once again, able bodied and whole.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association, Texas Chapter.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Lamesa.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents, Fuzzy and Ila Mae, and her brother, Tommy Varner.
She is survived by her husband, Tom, her daughter, Amy Hawkins and husband Hutch. “Gia” as she was affectionately known, adored her two grandsons Payne and Pryce.  They were her world! She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, whom she all loved dearly.
Vicki led a well-loved life with many cherished, wonderful memories.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church of Lamesa with Dr. Alan Korinek officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home.  Visitation will follow after the service.
