Chauncey Hunter
Celebration of Life funeral services for Chauncey Hunter, age 58, of Lamesa, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Lamesa with Superintendent Rufus Hunter officiating.
Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 and Friday, March 4, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a family visitation hour on Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Chauncey passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Lamesa.
He was born May 8, 1963 in Lamesa. Chauncey married Barbara Drone on June 4, 1997 in Lamesa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Superintendent Austin Bulter and Miranda Butler; his father, Charlie Brown; his sister, LaSandra Spader; his aunt Ruby Lee Butler; his uncles, OZ Butler, and Willie Earl Butler; his nephew Dominque QuayShawne Adams.
Chauncey was a Registered Dietitian Chef at SMMC in Big Spring, TX. He enjoyed barbecuing, baking and spending time with his family. He ran a Soup Kitchen for two years feeding the homeless. President of The Brotherhood at One Way Church in Lubbock, TX, Chauncey was a member of the Prayer House COGIC of Lamesa, TX.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Barbara Hunter of Lubbock, TX.; his mother, Dorothy Hunter of Lamesa, TX.; his daughters, Schrhonda Drone of Big Spring, TX., and Porsha Drone of Dallas, TX., Laci Jackson of Midland, TX., and Kendall Jackson of Waco, TX., his sons, Donald Jackson, and Allen Jackson, both of Big Spring, TX.; his brothers, Delwayne Hunter (Mary), and Tommy Hunter, both of Lamesa, TX., Charles Hunter (Sherrie) of Denver, CO., and Larry Hunter of DeSoto, TX., and Rufus Hunter (Gwen) of Lubbock, TX., and Joe Williams of Atlanta, GA.; his sisters, Pamela Kirkendale of Arlington, TX., Debra Castle (Louise) of Red Oak, TX., Yolanda Brown (Mervin), Latona “Candy” Hunter, Lolena Hunter (Adgiran), all of Lamesa, TX., Joyce McGruder of Dallas, TX., and Ebony Benton (Al) of Pecos, TX.; his aunts, Calanthia Butler, and Carolyn Butler, both of Ft. Worth, TX.; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
