Jim Peterson

    James Ottis Peterson, Jr, 79, of Lamesa, passed away on Jan. 23, 2022 in Lamesa.
    Jim was born in Lamesa,  to James Ottis Peterson, Sr and Iva Lea Love Peterson on July 16, 1942.  He was a 1960 graduate of Lamesa High School, and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.  He married Ruth Ann Clark on April 3, 1982. 
    Jim served on the Lamesa Fire Department, was a photographer for Olan Mills and was safety officer at the Preston E Smith Unit for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was an active member of Second Baptist Church in Lamesa.  
    Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Peterson; daughter, Angela Kay Peterson; sister, Sue Peterson Procter; and brothers, Gerald Peterson and Ross Peterson. 
    He is survived by step-daughter, Tammy Clark Wyatt of Lamesa; step-son, Sparky Clark of Midland; brother, Dewayne Peterson of Atlanta, GA; five step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. 
    Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Jan. 29, 2022 at Willowbrook Funeral Home in Midland with Pastor Toby Clements of Second Baptist Church Lamesa officiating.  Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.   
     The family suggests memorials to the Lamesa Second Baptist Church Sound System Fund or a favorite charity of your choice.
