Jimmy Russell Davis

    Jimmy Russell Davis, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2022, in Lamesa, TX. 
    He was born October 29, 1942, to Anthony Russell Davis and Nora Ellen (Babe) Parrish Davis.
    Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Second Baptist Church in Lamesa with Pastor Tobey Clements officiating. Visitation will follow in the church activity building. A private burial will be held at the Dawson County Cemetery.
    Jimmy grew up in the Sparenberg community. He attended school at Klondike where he met his high school sweetheart, Cathy Estes. They were married January 14, 1962, in Juarez and then remarried at the Sparenberg Baptist Church by Brother O.E. Fusman. They were married 60 years.
    Jimmy was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He loved his church and pastor. He farmed in Dawson, Martin, and Gaines counties and received the “Outstanding Farmer” award from the Klondike FFA. He also trucked for several years and loved hauling cotton seed, as well as produce from coast to coast. 
    He served as a Reserve Deputy under J. Terry Brown for the Dawson County Sheriff’s Department and really enjoy riding with the other deputies. At one time, he was responsible for catching a thief who had been running from the law; he chased him from Patricia to Andrews.
    Jimmy is survived by his wife, Cathy, his son, Kevin Davis, son, Michael Davis and wife Jody, grandchildren Kendra and Brian Huckert, Kurt and Alice Davis, Trevor Davis and Cheyenne Davis, great-grandchildren Kensley Bennett, Maci Davis and Blake Davis, sister Ada Stone and numerous nieces and nephews. 
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son Jeffrey Miller Davis, sisters Louise Fulton and Betty Mills and nephew Tony Scott.
    Jimmy loved his family dearly, and his sons were his pride and joy. He enjoyed going to eat breakfast with Brother Tobey most mornings and then going to the country to check things out.
