Nan Martin

    Nan Clayton Martin passed from this world on December 8, 2021, in Lamesa, Texas. 
    She was born on June 12, 1954, in Lubbock, Texas and was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Freda Clayton.
      She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry (Shorty) Martin; brother Scott Clayton (Inez); daughter, Aimee Rocha (Stephen); and daughter, Katie Redwine (Rusty). Nan was most proud of her grandchildren, Maddie Rocha, Brycen Rocha, Reece Redwine, and Riley Redwine. Nan was also a host mother to ten foreign exchange students whom she remained in contact with. 
    She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.  Nan was small in stature but had a heart full of love for others. 
    Nan attended Borden County ISD in elementary school, then transferred to Lamesa where she graduated from Lamesa High School. Nan attended Texas Christian University, then transferred and graduated from Texas Tech University, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. For a short period of time she owned and operated Kiddie Kottage daycare in Spur,Texas.
    Nan loved living at their ranch in Borden County with her husband and beloved dogs. She enjoyed going to the theatre to see musicals and was a world traveler who was always ready for an adventure. She was also at every event her grandchildren participated in and was so proud of them and their accomplishments.
    She was an extremely kind and giving person who touched many lives. Her friends were her family.  Even though life threw her many challenges, she overcame them with grace and dignity. Nan loved her extended family and kept up with all of her cousins, aunts, and uncles. Family reunions were Nan’s forte, and she was an excellent planner. She loved her family and was  proud of her heritage.
    Memorial services for Nan will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021, at  the Presbyterian Church, Lamesa, Texas at 11:00 a.m. There will be a family lunch following the service. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home.
