David Davis
David Louis Davis was an incredibly loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world on November 28, 2021, at the age of 69, surrounded by his family.
David was born to Louis Lytle and Patsy Davis on August 4, 1952, in Lamesa, Texas. He graduated from Lamesa High School and West Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. David married Barbara Boren Daniel on June 26, 2004, and they moved to Post six years ago. David was a Vietnam Veteran, and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
David was exceptionally smart and gifted with his hands. He was known for his handiwork among friends and was instrumental in the formation of his church’s “Helping Hands” program. He was a very generous and humble servant, always happiest when helping others and never taking a penny for his work. He was co-owner and operator of Davis Furniture and Hardware, where he enjoyed working until his retirement. David was also known for his witty sense of humor, and he never missed a chance to make someone laugh, including all his hospice nurses. He had a never-ending love of ice cream and chocolate.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Matthew Davis, Amy Tackitt and husband Michael, and Robin Daniel; grandsons Benjamin, Patrick, and Daniel; sister, Debra Davis; in-laws, Jim and Bebe Boren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Zac and Robert Davis.
A Memorial service for David will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock. His family requests that facial masks be worn at the church.
