The Sands Mustangs went into Friday’s game against Loop as slight two-point underdogs.But coming out as 67-44 winners, Coach Steve Keith’s troops took a big step toward a return to the Division II state six-man playoffs.“You want to be playing for something like this at the end of the year,” Keith said.It started as a tight game between two squads fighting for their playoff lives. The game was all tied up at 8-all at the end of the first quarter, with Sands owning a slim 26-22 halftime edge.Three third-quarter touchdowns gave the Mustangs a little more breathing room at 48-38.
