Permits for more than $9 million worth of work on roofs across the city have been issued since a severe storm pounded Lamesa with hail, high winds and heavy rain on June 26.Information provided by city inspector Brian Beck shows the city has issued 725 permits for roofing work, almost all of them during the four months since the storm.Beck estimates the city typically issues only about 40 roofing permits a year.The slew of permits since the storm isn’t much of a surprise.“Everybody around here gets their roofs done after a hail storm; a big hail stormprobably every three to ...
