Shopping for school clothes will be a little less expensive this coming weekend as businesses selling clothing, shoes or school supplies will not be collecting state and local sales taxes on those sales
For three days only – Friday through Sunday – shoppers can save $8 for every $100 they spend when they buy qualifying purchases valued under $100. Those tax-free purchases include apparel, backpacks, footwear, some sports wear, facial disposable masks; graduation caps and gowns, and even baby and adult diapers.
Hair accessories, jewelry, purses and wallets, belts without belt buckles, handkerchiefs, helmets, and most sporting equipment remain taxable items.
