Frances 'Ann' Holt

    Frances “Ann” Holt passed away on July 14, 2021, at age 86 in Fredericksburg, Texas.
    Ann was born in Abilene, Texas to Clifford Frye Hudspeth and Wayne Hudspeth. She attended Texas Tech University where she met her lifelong partner, sweetheart, and husband Donald Holt whom she married in 1953.  Don and Ann were stationed in San Francisco, California, and later Rehoboth Beach, Delaware during Don’s tenure with the U.S. Navy, from 1953-1956. They later returned to Lamesa where they farmed, raised their family, and lived until 2017.
    Ann was a homemaker and mother of three children. She had a profound love of animals and usually included several in the family at all times, including cats, dogs, mallard ducks, pigs, birds, and various other strays, who always became favorite pets. Her children often joked that the animals occupied a favored status over any living human, a position that their mother, who possessed a uniquely wry sense of humor, usually corroborated. Ann loved to travel and always favored the Rocky Mountains as well as the Pacific Northwest. Ann and Don traveled extensively during their retirement – always in their beloved motor home- making many friends and memories.    
    Ann is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don Holt, and by her three children: Gary Holt and his spouse Dr. Antha Holt of Elma, Washington, Dr. Cheryl Holt-White and her spouse Len White of Comfort, Texas and Wayne Holt and his spouse Karen Tanner-Holt of Asheville, North Carolina. Ann is also survived by two grandchildren: Emily Griffin and her spouse Christopher of Houston as well as Mary-Catherine Rhoden and her spouse Nathan of New York City.
    A graveside service was held on Monday July 19th at Lamesa Memorial Park.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
