Although they failed to bring home any awards from last weekend’s West Texas USA Youth All-Star Softball Tournament at San Angelo, the general consensus among three of the local teams’ coaches is that their squads came back a lot better players than when they left.
“The team which beat us like 17-2 in our first game of this tournament beat us only 9-5 in our last game,” said Joey Barron, coach of Lamesa’s 14-and-under all-start team.
That team went 0-5 in the tournament but it still wasn’t hard for Coach Barron to see bright spots.
