Three candidates are vying to become the new Lamesa Rodeo Queen. Lamesa’s annual rodeo kicks off at 8 p.m. Aug. 5-7 at the rodeo grounds southwest of Forrest Park on South Houston Avenue. The candidate selling the most advance tickets to the rodeo sponsored by the Lamesa Rodeo Association’s will receive the crown, a $1,000 scholarship, provided by Delta Pine, and a share in her ticket sales. Queen contestants are currently selling tickets for $8 each. The price is $10 at the gate. The new queen will be crowned after the grand entrance on the rodeo’s opening night.
