This coming Saturday’s planned Independence Day celebration – including parade, activities in Forrest Park and evening fireworks show – has been canceled.
Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce and city officials determined Tuesday afternoon the continuing impact of last Saturday’s storm warranted axing the festivities.
“People are getting mad, but I’m sorry,” said Karen Mize, Chamber president. “It’s a very hard decision for me. It’s the decision that needed to be made.”
