    A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria “Mary” Ogeda Vela, 88, of Lamesa will be held Friday July 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. 
    Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Rosary will be prayed Wednesday, June 30, 2021 and Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel.
    Mary passed away Monday, June 28, 2021 in Lamesa, Texas.  
    She was born May 22, 1933 in Eden, Texas to Eloiso and Betty (Barela) Ogeda.  She married Rogelio “Roy” Vela, Sr. in Lamesa, Texas in 1948, they were married 66 years until his death on June 3, 2014.
    She was a homemaker who loved music, singing, playing loteria, and coloring…but most of all she loved her grandchildren.
    Mary is survived by her children, Jesus Vela and the late Maria Guadalupe of Odessa, TX., Roberto Vela and wife Mary Faye, Maria Contreras and the late Jose Luis Contreras, Treenie Enriquez and husband Ruben, Rita Martinez and husband Manuel, Rogelio Vela, Jr. and wife Margaret, Jose Vela and wife Lupe, Rosa Torres and husband Frank, Elia Rendon and husband Benjamin, and Elizabeth Rodriquez and husband Gilbert, all of Lamesa; son-in-law, Lupe Gaitan of Welch; sister, Josie Solis of Lamesa; brothers, Isidro Ogeda and wife Stella, Abaristo Ogeda and wife Lucy and Chon Ogeda, all of Lamesa; 34 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
    Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rogelio, Sr.; daughter, Carmen Gaitan; grandsons, David Contreras and Rosendo Gaitan; sister, Cruz Rodriquez; brothers, Tomas Ogeda and Juan Ogeda.
