Bruce Moore

    Bruce Franklin Moore was born to William Howard and Gertrude Greaves Moore on March 22, 1924 in Howard County, Texas. He passed away on June 26, 2021 in Harris County, Texas after a brief illness. 
    Bruce was the younger brother of William Travis Moore who preceded him in death in 1960. 
    Bruce enrolled at Texas Technical College, later renamed Texas Tech University, in 1940 at the age of 16. He entered the U.S Army in 1944 and saw combat in the Philippine Islands until the end of the war. He then served in the occupation of Japan in 1945-46, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. With his engineering education from Tech, he participated in the rebuilding of Narita International Airport in Tokyo. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to Texas Tech, where he completed his civil engineering degree and graduated with honors in 1947. 
    After graduation Bruce moved back to Dawson County where he began a farming partnership with his father that still continues today. 
    In 1949 Bruce met Gloria Mae McClendon and they were married on Valentines Day, 1952. She was the love of his life and together they raised three sons, all of whom earned college degrees. Bruce was an avid supporter of all Texas Tech sports teams as well as the Dallas Cowboys. His other love was automobiles and driving cross country. Bruce was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. 
     He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Gloria, and their youngest son, Robert. 
    He is survived by sons Mike Moore of Lubbock, and Steve Moore (Evelyn) of Houston; grandsons Christopher Dunsmuir (wife Caroline) of Castleford England, and Byron Moore (wife Lauren) of Katy, Travis Moore (wife Yesenia) of Katy and great grandson Caleb, former daughter in law Louise Brock, niece Marcia Bennett of San Diego and nephew Monty Moore of Denver. 
    Visitation will be held at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm followed by a graveside service on Wednesday June 30, 2021.
