SLATON – Thousands of guests braved the 90-plus degree temperatures to attend the biennial South Plains Airshow Saturday (June 12) at the Slaton Municipal Airport. The theme this year was “Celebrating Women in Flight.” Some planes, such as the B-25 Devil Dog Squadron, had women who piloted the plane during their performance. Crowds were able to watch special performers Tora, Tora, Tora; Kyle Franklin and Franklin’s Flying Circus, and Bob Carlton Vertigo Airshows.
