There’s good news for both Dawson County and the City of Lamesa, as both entities have seen increases in their sales tax rebates from the state comptroller’s office.
The county’s June payment of $78,903 represents a 12.85-percent increase over the $69,917 rebated received last June.
The county has collected a total of $465,617 since the first of the year. That figure is 2.64 percent more than the $453,612 the city received in the first six months of last year.
Dawson County levies a sales tax of one-half of one percent, which is dedicated to reducing property taxes.
