Lamesa Independent School District (LISD) board members got a look Thursday at what it takes to be a School Resource Officer (SRO).
Lamesa Police Chief Josh Peterson and SRO Lt. Alex Sauseda told the board they must first be licensed peace officers. They undergo backgrounds checks and several interview processes before they patrol in schools.
“They’re interviewed with the police department. All their background is up to date and they can do the job,” Peterson said.
