Last summer, the Lamesa Boys and Girls Club lessened its enrollment in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that more people are getting vaccinated and the numbers of active coronavirus cases are dwindling, the club continues to curtail enrollment for other reasons: lack of space and more enhanced activities.
In the past, the club had more than 140 kids participating in its summer programs. Now it’s running at a little under 100.
“Pre-pandemic we were running 148,” said Tammy Wyatt, club director. “During the pandemic, during school, we were running about 80.”
