Lamesa Middle School is getting a new principal with the hiring this week of Stephen Cross. Cross will step into the position formerly held by Serapio Arguijo, who has accepted an administrative job with the Andrews school district. Cross is a 25-year veteran with plans of spending the rest of his career in Lamesa, said Richard Soliz, the Lamesa Independent School District (LISD) director of human resources.. “He wants to retire here. He wants this to be his last stop,” Soliz said. “Very organized. Very professional. A good, good strong leader. I think he’s stern, but he’s very approachable. He’s not a yeller.
