In a strange turn of events Tuesday, two Lamesa City Council members serving on the Lamesa Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) board did a back flip and helped vote down the sale of downtown property to a businessman interested in opening an Italian restaurant.
Council member Bobby Gonzales and Mayor Pro-Tem Dore Rodriguez had both approved selling the property at 118 Austin Ave. to Cody Sandlin for $5,000 when it went before the LEDC last month.
The two council members, who service on the LEDC, which owns the property, on Tuesday were among the four council members voting down the project.
