Organizers of the 11th annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival are putting on the finishing touches on the event which opens Thursday evening and runs until early Sunday afternoon. Celebrating Lamesa as the legendary birthplace of the chicken fried steak, the festival is hosted by the City of Lamesa at Forrest Park. The Chamber is kicking off the event with a parade at Forrest Park starting at 7 p.m. Thursday. “They just show up at Forrest Park,” Chamber President Karen Mize said about parade entries.
