Lee Barrera, Jr.

    Graveside service for Elias “Lee” Barrera, Jr., 58, of Lamesa will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Dawson County Cemetery, with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating.  Under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.  
    Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2021 and Monday, March 8, 2021 at Branon Funeral Home.
    Lee went to be with the Lord Friday, March 5, 2021 in Lamesa, Texas.
    He was born May 4, 1962 in Lamesa to Elias Sr. and Ramona (Peralez) Barrera. He attended Lamesa High School. On June 4, 1983, Lee married the love of his life, Delia Cuellar in Lamesa. They were married 37 years.
    Lee retired from Dawson County, Precinct 1 in 2013 after 29 years of service. He then went to work for Britt Trucking as a truck driver, moving oilrigs. Lee ended his career with Britt as a safetyman in 2020. He most recently worked for Nolan Reed at D&N Transportation. 
    Throughout most of those years he also enjoyed and was very proud to be a part of the Texas Association of Sports Officials. He officiated countless high school football and basketball sporting events throughout West Texas.  Lee was highly respected and often called with requests to officiate Varsity basketball playoff games. 
    He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and sports fanatic. He loved music, calling his family & friends by phone, (giving them a hard time lol) playing cards and barbecuing. He was known for gifting scratch off tickets to all his family members who celebrated with him on Christmas Eve. 
    Lee loved to attend and cheer at his grandchildren’s games. He was so loved and will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity and as an “Uncle,” to many. He already is and will always be greatly missed. 
    Lee is survived by his wife, Dee Barrera of Lamesa; children, Trey Barrera and Nicolette, John Marc Barrera and Jancee all of Lamesa; brother, Gilbert Barrera, and wife Bertha of Lamesa; grandchildren, Cayden Barrera, Christopher Barrera, Catileya Perez and Vinnie Castro; Mother in law, Elvia Arismendez; and sisters in law Sandy Trevino and husband, Ruben of Lamesa, Linda Cuellar of Lubbock and Jana Settles and husband, Ron of San Antonio.
