According to Farm Service Agency records from 2020, Texas planted 185,828 acres of peanuts of all four types. Of these types, 41% were Runner, 29% were Virginia, 16% were Spanish, and 14% were Valencia.
The Texas Plains region had the highest peanut acreage in the state with 151,388 acres. Of those acres, 36% (54,683 acres) were Virginia, 32% (48,468 acres) were Runner, 17% (25,264 acres) were Valencia and 15% (22,972 acres) were Virginia.
