When the electricity in much of Lamesa went out Monday evening, area businesses had two options facing them: either close up shop or wait it out.
Claiborne’s Thriftway wa one of the businesses that closed early after the power went out Monday.
“We just tried to get our customers out because we had backup batteries for ou registers that last for about 15-20 minutes,” said store manager Agustin Cazares.
The store’s power went down around 5:30 p.m. Monday and didn’t come back up until two hours later. It was back to business Tuesday.
