As with just about everything else the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the operation of Lamesa’s unique non-profit movie theater.
State regulations forced Lamesa’s Movieland Theater to close its doors for 11 weeks between mid-March and early June. Then, after reopening for only about a month, the theater closed again for another six weeks while waiting for new movies to be released.
Now COVID-19 is impacting the annual membership drive and appreciation dinner hosted each February by Friends of Movieland.
Although the event itself will be somewhat different than in the past, the focus is also different.
