The following were among the many calls received recently by the Lamesa Police Department: Wednesday, Jan. 3 5:16 a.m. – An individual in the 1000 block of N. 17th reported smoke in his house from a possible fire in the area. The first firefighter to arrive reported that a resident believes someone may be burning items in a neighboring house. It was discovered that a fire had been ignited in a barbecue pit. 7:20 a.m. – A caller reported a maroon sedan headed northbound on Hwy. 87 north of Lamesa did not have any lights on and was not staying in the lanes.
