Going into Friday night’s District 8-1A basketball action at Ackerly against longtime rival Grady, past experience told the Sands Mustangs to be ready for the Wildcats’ best shot.
They might have gotten just that but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs ended up sweeping the Wildcats.
The No. 10 Mustang girls had to survive a somewhat shaky start before rolling past the Wildcats, 52-27. Now 19-2 this season, the Mustangs were up 22-18 at halftime. Sands outscored Grady, 30-9, in the final two quarters.
At 7-0, Sands remains alone at the top of that 8-1A pack.
