SEMINOLE – Sometimes water bills can fluctuate from month to month, but a Seminole resident recently received one from the city beyond belief, a whopping $538,725.05.
The homeowner quickly spotted the error and visited city hall; they acknowledged the mistake and corrected, without questions.
Seminole City Manager Tommy Phillips explained that a few years ago, the city changed from “physical read” to “auto-read” water meters. They now drive down the street with a receiver in the vehicle. The water meters send out the readings, and the receiver registers it.
