The Sands Mustangs enjoyed a clean sweep on the hardwoods Tuesday night at Wellman-Union.
Sands’ girls, who moved up to fourth in this week’s Class 1A state poll, are now 7-1 after bringing home an 83-15 victory over the Wildcats.
Sands opened up a huge 27-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 47-12 at halftime. The Mustangs outscored Wellman-Union, 36-3, in the final two quarters.
“Our girls continue playing well on the defensive end where we’re forcing a lot of turnovers which have been leading to a lot of transition baskets,” Sands Coach Ben Connell said.
