The Sands Mustangs enjoyed a clean sweep on the high school hardwoods Friday night at Hermleigh.
In a match-up between two of the top-ranked Class 1A girls teams in the state, the No. 5 Mustangs crushed the No. 6 Cardinals, 63-9.
Now 6-1, the Mustangs jumped out to a commanding 41-3 halftime lead before outscoring the Cardinals, 22-6, in the final two quarters.
“I don’t think their girls were ready for our intensity level tonight. A lot of that came from playing all of those big schools that we’ve been playing here lately,” Sands Coach Ben Connell said.
